Completing a HYROX race for the first time, alongside my brother Fernando, was such an enriching experience. It was a tremendous fitness test and enduring it was extremely rewarding. Thinking of ways to challenge myself in the new year, I had texted my brother “HYROX 2025” back on December 29th, and he excitedly responded “Let’s go. It’s gonna be awesome!” Having set the commitment then, and the following five months until the day of the competition, preparing for it, learning and adapting to a new style of training was an amazing season of fun and growth.
My brother and I signed up for the Men’s Open Doubles division. Although we prepared for it in our own ways and didn’t get to train together, we went into the race quite ready. Since Fernando has more strength than me, and I have better cardio than him, I thought we complemented each other very well. We stayed supportive of each other at all times, communicated easily, and were able to finish the competition in great shape. Without any specific game plan or any time goal, we simply navigated each run and workout station as best as we could, and not only got to bond, but also had a blast through it all.
In my opinion, the event was seamlessly organized, the staff members were all so positive and encouraging, the whole atmosphere was vibrant, and it was amazing to be surrounded by such high energy from spectators and fellow competitors. I am beyond grateful for having been part of HYROX Atlanta, I am glad to have learned about the sport and decided to give it a try, and I look forward to participating in future races.
