Buenos Aires marathon
Not only was this the first time I ran a marathon in a foreign country, but it was also my first time in the awesome city of Buenos Aires; a place I have always wanted to visit. In addition, I got to run with my brother Fernando once again, as well as one of my closest friends from Paraguay, Lujan, who completed her first marathon ever. Such factors made the event super special and memorable.
The course took runners through the heart of the city and several of its major landmarks such as Estadio Monumental, Casa Rosada, Obelisco, La Bombonera and Puerto Madero to name some of them, and except for a few slight inclines, the terrain was all flat. Moreover, the amazing energy of about 15,000 runners and the spectators, and proper spring weather, made this race truly enjoyable. Having developed a foot injury during my prep for this marathon, and coming back from it two weeks prior to the race, had an impact on how my body felt during the run; however, not being concerned with my speed as much as simply having fun and completing the race strong and healthy, I was able cross the finish line completely satisfied with my effort and grateful for the experience.
